Interview With
Ana González Corpas!

March 10th, 2011

LTP interviews the Webmistress of the fan club website, LazyTown World...

LTP: How did you first become interested in the 'LazyTown Phenomenon'?

ANA: It started in August 2006 (or 2005, I don't remember well), when I was seeing a few videos on YouTube I saw a clip in Castilian where Robbie Rotten (the first time I didn't know who he was) was in his lair singing the song "Master of Disguise". I thought it was an old video because I thought it was a clip from a TV Show I saw when I was a kid because the colours, character etc. reminded me of that TV Show. But then I saw on the Internet it was a TV Series from 2004 from Iceland. Then, I saw on YouTube another clip, the clip from the episode "Pixelspix" where Sportacus (the first time I didn't know who he was) was trying to catch Robbie on the computer and then I fell in love with the TV Series, hehe.

I will tell you a curious moment. My English was horrible, and the TV Series about Superheroes had the name of them, so I thought "LazyTown" was the name of the hero, hehehe. And, when I saw the second clip I thought the TV Series was about computers.

Then, I saw the full story about LazyTown and I remembered when I was younger I wanted a TV Series where it teaches the same things that LazyTown does and I promised myself to try to make it famous in Spain. It is a reality now, but I don't think it is thanks to me hehe, but I am very happy :) Anyways, not enough yet, but I am sure Magnús and his Team will do it ;) And about Magnús..., well, I wanted a different idol, not the same idols of everybody, someone special who thinks like (or similar) me. Someone who does things because he/she wants to help people (or Mother Nature like Al Gore), because he/she likes to do it, not for money, so..., Magnús and LazyTown were both things I was trying to find :)

LTP: Do you play any musical instruments, such as the piano or trombone?

ANA: I learned to play flute when I was at School but I forgot it, so I need to learn it again.

I would like to learn the drums, the guitar (spanish guitar 'specially) and perhaps the piano.

LTP: What is your favourite LazyTown episode and why?

ANA: Well, I love "Pixelspix" because it is about computers and I love them. But I have other favourite episodes like "Sportafake", "The LazyTown's New Superhero" "The Laziest Town", "Rocking Robbie", "Friends Forever", "Once Upon a Time", "Pixel TV", "Dancing Dreams". And more, more episodes because I love all to tell you the truth :)

LTP: In Spain, how old do you have to be to get a driver's license, and do you drive on the right side of the road or the left?

ANA: Well, if you are 17 you can do the theoretical test, but you need to be 18 to do the practical test and get the license.

The steering wheel is on the left side. So we drive on the right side.

LTP: How did you learn your skills for website building, did you go to school or college?

ANA: To tell you the truth, I didn't, hehe. I made it with Jimdo, a Hosting which gives you a board with several options (Text, text with photo, photo gallery, etc.) and you can make a professional website easily.

Anyways, I hope to send the Website to another Hosting to make a 100% LT Design because Jimdo gives you the templates, you can't make your own design (well, if you know a little more about HTML and CSS you can make good changes, but not 100% your own design yet). But I need practice because I am not a professional, but if everything goes OK the new website of LTW will release in September.

LTP: In your country, on what TV station can you see LazyTown, and is the language in Spanish or English?

ANA: In 2005 they released it on Playhouse Disney (a pay channel), and in 2006 on La 2 and one (or two years later, I don't remember well) on Clan (La 2 and Clan are free channels and they are public channels of the Government [RTVE]).

The remote controls have an option to change the languages, so you can choose if you want to listen to it in Spanish or in English (American English).

LTP: When you conduct interviews with Máni, Magnús, etc, do you come up with your own questions or do you have assistance from the other fans?

ANA: Well, for the first interview (November 2009), I wanted fans to ask the questions. For the second one (February 2010) I tried to make the questions myself (I asked another Admin. of LTW to help me and we made the final version) but two or three questions were made by fans. For the third one (June 2010), fans' questions again (more than 40, I think). For the fourth one (August 2010), fans again (but I think this time they were made by the fans (and me) who did the interviews with him, but I am not sure). For Máni I made them and for the second one for Máni, they were made by a fan who sent me the questions and the answers.

In summary, I asked the fans. But I tried to make them myself too, to know if I am good doing interviews or not.

LTP: Do you have any non-LazyTown related hobbies?

ANA: Well, I like computers as I said, I like to search through the Internet, talk with people. But I like to go out with my friends too. I like to write too, I am writing a book. I wrote several pages already and I hope to finish it soon and send it to the Editorial Everest in September.

LTP: Can you describe any difficulties you had contacting the people you interviewed, such as Magnús or Máni?

ANA: Well, fortunately I hadn't because when LTW started, I met them already, so I knew how I could send them e-mails for Magnús or for Máni (well, actually Máni answered me personally). But I agree about time, I needed to wait a while because Magnús is very busy as you know. But I am happy because he did, 'specially the third interview, because there were so many questions but he answered them.

LTP: Are you interested in art and music, if so, who are your favourite artists and/or musicians?

ANA: I like art and music. I love Velázquez, Da Vinci, Monet, Dalí, Murillo, and more, more painters. Well, I don't like Picasso so much :S

About Music, I like The Jackson 5, Bee Gees, Michael Jackson, ABBA, Rolling Stones, The Beatles, Backstreet Boys, N'SYNC, Aqua, ...

LTP: Have you ever been to America, if not, where would you like to visit?

ANA: I hadn't the opportunity to travel to America, but I would like to go to California to visit Warner Bros. Studios, Walt Disney Studios and visit the original, the first Disneyland. I would like to visit New York too.

LTP: Would you like to become a movie actress or anything involved with show business?

ANA: Well, to tell you the truth, at first, I didn't know what I wanted to do with my life, my future. Because I thought to be a doctor, but I finally said no, a policewoman, and not. But then, the DVD's started to sell and when I saw the Making Of of TV Series and Movies I loved them and I wanted to be an actress, but then I realized I was shy, so I decided to study for work behind the camera, as director, camerawoman, scripwriter, ... So, I hope to work in that world someday.

In fact, when I finish my books I want to make it as a movie and I would like Magnús and his Team to work with me. It is one of my dreams.

LTP: If Magnús asked you to go bungee-jumping off of a bridge, would you do it?

ANA: Well, although I have a fear of heights, I think people must cope with their fears. So I can try to do it, why not?

But I would like Magnús to do it too. Could be funny to see his face doing it, hehe.

LTP: What are some of your favourite cartoon shows and characters?

ANA: Well, when I was a kid, I usually saw Popeye, The Muppet Show ("El Show de los Teleñecos" in Spain). Dragonball Z, Oliver & Benji (a TV Series about a Football Team), The Pink Panther, Pippi Långstrumpf ("Pippi Calzaslargas" in Spain. It was a Swedish TV Series), Vicky the Viking ("Vicky el Vikingo" in Spain), Superman, Batman, etc. But I hadn't a favourite character actually, I have a favourite one now, when I saw LazyTown and he is Sportacus.

LTP: If you could turn yourself into any kind of animal, what would you be?

ANA: Uhmm, it is an interesting question... I never thought about that. But perhaps a dog because they are the best friends of the humans, they help us always and I love to help people if I can, so...

LTP: Do you have plans to do any writing projects, like a book or stories?

ANA: As I said, I am writing a book called "The Golden Falcon" an adventure book about a special family. I would like to write more books and make movies about them.

LTP: Are you interested in learning foreign languages, such as Icelandic, or any other?

ANA: I would like to learn Icelandic of course, and not only because of LazyTown, it is because I think it is an interesting language. I would like to learn Chinese too.

LTP: When you go shopping at the local market-place, do you prefer paper or plastic bags?

ANA: Well, in Spain we don't put the purchase into a paper bag, they are plastic bags. But now in the market for recycling them they give us recycled bags or if we want a plastic bag we need to pay (and that money will be for recycling). But if we don't want any of them, in our houses we have cloth bags and use them. I think the three options are good solutions.
