An Exclusive LTP Interview with the Executive Vice President of LazyTown Entertainment...
LTP: What were the circumstances that led you to become involved with LazyTown?
ÁGÚST: I've known Magnús for at least 20 years. One day we ran into each other and Fate made be the day that I was looking for a new challenge and he was looking for someone with my experience to join him on this crusade. It was at the point when LazyTown was ready to go international.
LTP: Did you start out as 'Executive Vice President', or was there a previous position you held?
ÁGÚST: Originally we were that few that we didn´t consider "positions" or "titles". LazyTown is not about titles. It is about moving people and action. We had to have many roles or hats during those first years. Sales, marketing, PR, financing, legal, housekeeper and everything else. Hands on. Once the company started to grow we realised that we needed titles.
LTP: Did you attend college, if so, which one, and what was your major subject?
ÁGÚST: I attended the oldest college in Iceland, then finished my Bachelors in Economics from
Un. Of Iceland and then taking my masters degree from UCSB in California.
LTP: Which LazyTown character do you like the best?
ÁGÚST: I do like them all. From Sportacus to the Kids to Robbie as well that always brings the right amount of humor and slapstick to the show. They all have their strong and weak side - like we all do and I can see myself in all of them...
LTP: Do you have any favourite LazyTown episodes, and what do you enjoy about them?
ÁGÚST: I enjoy them all. I can't name one as the best as they all have something special. Obviously some are more humor, others are more action and others more music. I do like when there is a little bit of all in there as that to me is a perfect episode.
LTP: What do you like or dislike about your job?
ÁGÚST: I like the constant challenges we face. We are comparing ourselves against companies that have tens of thousands of people on board, like Disney, WB and Nickelodeon while we only have about 30 to 40 employees.
I dislike that sometimes there are long hours and travel that take you away from friends and family.
LTP: Are you a member of the Icelandic Chamber of Commerce? If so, what are your duties?
ÁGÚST: LazyTown is a member of the Icelandic Chamber of Commerce. I used to be a board member for the Icelandic- American Association, but there was also a American - Icelandic one in NY. So it was decided to merge them and not have anymore than one in Iceland.
LTP: When travelling, have you visited America much, and what do you find interesting about it?
ÁGÚST: I've been alot to America, mainly the west and east coast. It's interesting and fascinating how big America is and how different it is to come to the west coast compared to the east coast.
LTP: On your vacation time, do you have any opportunities to listen to music, read books, etc. - What are some of your favourites?
ÁGÚST: I try to read books and listen to music but lately there hasn't been a lot of that.
LTP: Is the Second Season of LazyTown going to be released on DVD in America?
ÁGÚST: Yes, we are looking into when that could be. We also launched LazyTown on a spanish speaking station recently, and it is going to be interesting to see how that works. We do have a huge fan base both in South America and in Spain.
LTP: Have you read any of the other LTP cast member interviews, and which one did you find the most enlightening?
ÁGÚST: I've read them all and they are all enlightening in their own ways.
Takk fyrir Ágúst og LazyTown Entertainment.
